The sole issue for our consideration is whether a criminal defendant tried fifteen days prior to the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States in Batson v. Kentucky, 476 U.S. 79, 106 S.Ct. 1712, 90 L.Ed.2d 69 (1986), is entitled to a hearing to determine whether the prosecution improperly discriminated against blacks by exercising its peremptory challenges to exclude them from the jury, despite defense counsels failure to make a contemporaneous objection to those peremptory strikes at trial.*fn1 We conclude the defendants failure to adhere to the contemporaneous objection rule embodied in La. Code Crim. Proc. art. 841 bars his later attempt to challenge the states peremptory strikes. Accordingly, we reverse the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit, to the contrary and remand for further proceedings. I.
